Student Experiences

At the beginning of the year I came to Wanganui from Japan. I didn’t know what to expect and I was so shy and nervous. Luckily Uni was with me and I soon settled in to the Kiwi way of life. Although I found New Zealand teaching very different from Japan, I loved the school and the teachers and my new friends. Every morning whenI went to school, so many Kiwi students said “Hi” to me and I really liked them. They were so nice and helped me a lot when I had problems. At school, everybody was my English teacher and it was fun to talk wth people. I have learnt lots of Kiwi words and Kiwi culture from them! At the end of the year we had prizegiving and it was the best event for me but also it was the saddest thing. My dream school life was over and we wouldn’t be eating lunch together at school anymore. Jacob said, “We are all family.” in his speech and it was very true for me too. I have only spent about ten months here and other Year 13 have spent five years together, but still I think I joined the Cullinane family at last and I will never forget anything. I want to say thank you to everybody who helped me and accepted me as a friend.
